Each year millions of viewers celebrate the unsung heroes of our Nation on ITV at the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards, the biggest of its kind in the UK.

For the first time, ITV is asking viewers to help choose the winner of one of the most prestigious awards of the evening – the ITV Carer of the Year.

ITV and the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards 2007 are asking all our viewers to let us know about people who devote a large part of their time and energy to caring for another person or people.

A nominee may be someone who cares for one person or many, they may care for a neighbour, family member or friend; they could be a devoted foster parent or it might be a person from one of the caring professions such as nurses or doctors whose extraordinary commitment to others is over and above the normal call of duty.

16 regional winners from all over the country will then go through to the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards panel of distinguished judges.

They will select the carer whose compassion and dedication to helping others is most inspirational to the Nation.

Each regional winner will be awarded £1000 and must be available to attend the glittering Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards dinner hosted by Carol Vorderman and star-studded post-awards party in London between October 8th and 9th. Travel expenses and accommodation will be provided as will the cost of any respite care which would be required.

The deadlines for nominations has now passed, but keep watching ITV’s regional news programme in your area as we feature some of the inspirational carers that viewers have nominated.
