VOTING TERMS AND CONDITIONS: ITV CARER OF THE YEAR
Viewers can vote by phone or by SMS text only by dialling the relevant number as specified in the programme.
Viewers can vote for which nominee they want to win ITV Carer of the Year.
Each phone vote is charged at national rate from a BT landline. Calls from mobiles and other networks may be higher.
Each SMS text vote costs two (2) standard network rate message.
The total cost will be dependent on your network. Please ask permission from the bill payer before voting and please dial carefully and sensibly. There will be no refunds for the cost of any vote made or for any misdialled calls or misspelt keywords.
You may dial this number as many times as you like. However, ITV and the producers of the programme reserve the right to discount votes if they have reasonable grounds to suspect that fraudulent voting has taken place, such that is designed to excessively manipulate the outcome of the vote. You can dial relevant numbers from anywhere in the United Kingdom.
Vote lines are opened at 09:00 on Friday, 21 September 2007 and closed at 23:59 on Sunday, 23 September 2007. Votes made or received outside of these specified times will not be counted but may still be charged. Voting times are liable to change and ITV may suspend, withdraw or re-set voting at its sole discretion at any time.
The result of the vote will be from all votes received by the producer of the programme into the studio at the time when the result is calculated, after the lines have closed. Please note that votes which have been sent but not yet received by the producer of the programme at the time when the result is calculated will not be counted but may still be charged, even if the voter has received an acknowledgment of sent message from their telephony provider.
ITV will not have a say in the outcome of the vote. The winner will be the person who receives the most votes.
The nominee in each ITV Licensee region who receives the most votes will be the winner for that region. In the event of a tie, where two or more nominees have received joint highest scores, those nominees will be winners for that region. The winner(s) from each region will then be put forward as finalists to the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain national judging panel who will decide the overall winner for the ITV Carer of the Year category.
ITV and the producers of the programme reserve the right to discount votes if they have reasonable grounds to suspect that fraudulent voting has occurred.
ITV, the producers of the programme and their sub-contractors do not accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any telephone network or line, system, server, provider or otherwise which may result in any vote being lost or not properly registered or recorded.
Guidelines for Voting by Phone - To vote for a nominee by phone, you may dial the national rate telephone number, as displayed on the programme, and listen to a short message thanking you for your vote. If the time for voting has ended and the line is closed you will get an engaged tone. Please note that as with any popular voting show, there are always very high call volumes when the voting first opens.
Anyone having difficulties getting through should wait 10-20 minutes and then try calling again within voting times only. BT has supplied the phone numbers for voting, but if voting volumes are high, voters using other UK network operators (for example, Cable & Wireless, Virgin Media, etc) may experience difficulties in voting.
Guidelines for Voting by SMS Text Messaging - To vote for a nominee by SMS text, you may send the keyword specified in the programme, along with the number allocated to the nominee, to the shortcode as displayed on the programme.
You will receive a bounceback message either thanking you for your vote, or stating that all voting is closed after the time for voting has ended.
If you are voting by SMS, you may opt out of receiving any marketing communications from ITV in any bounceback message by adding the word NOINFO after the keyword as specified in the programme.
